The short answer

If fibre is available at your address, choose fibre from Türk Telekom or Turkcell Superonline: it is the fastest and most stable option for streaming. If you move often or don't know how long you'll stay in the city, choose a no-contract plan (Taahhütsüz); TurkNet is the best-known provider for this. Either way, make sure the plan is unlimited (Limitsiz).

How do I check what's available at my address?

Every provider has an infrastructure check (Altyapı Sorgulama) on its website. Enter your address or address code (Adres Kodu) to see the line type and the top speed available.
  • Your address code is in e-Devlet under your address details, or on your residence certificate (Yerleşim Yeri Belgesi).
  • Check with more than one provider: fibre may be available from one and not from another.
  • On VDSL lines, speed drops the further you are from the street cabinet, so you may get less than the plan's headline speed.

What documents do foreigners need?

Foreigners can get home internet just like citizens. You usually need:
  • A valid residence permit showing your foreigner ID number starting with 99, plus your passport, or a temporary protection ID (Kimlik).
  • An address registered in your name.
  • A Turkish phone number for confirmation messages.
Details vary between providers, so ask before the installation appointment.

Contracts and cancellation fees: read this before signing

Most cheap deals require a 12- or 24-month commitment (Taahhüt). If you cancel early you pay a cancellation fee (Cayma Bedeli), usually the value of the discounts you received.
  • If you might leave Turkey or change city, a no-contract plan often works out cheaper, even at a higher monthly price.
  • When you move house you can usually transfer the line (Nakil) if the new address has the infrastructure.
  • Check the commitment period and the cancellation fee in the contract before you sign.

How much speed do you need for TV and streaming?

Turkey abolished the fair usage quota (AKK) at the start of 2019, and most plans today are unlimited. So you only need to pick the right speed for the number of screens:
Household useSuggested speed
One or two screens in Full HD25 to 35 Mbps
A 4K TV plus family phones50 Mbps
Large family, several 4K screens100 Mbps or more
For details, read internet speed needed for IPTV and 4K.

Tips for better streaming at home

  • Connect the TV with an Ethernet cable if you can, or use the modem's 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Put the modem somewhere open and close to the TV, not inside a cupboard.
  • Test your speed in the evening when you actually watch, not in the morning.
  • If the stream buffers, follow how to fix IPTV buffering.

Arabic channels over your home internet

Once your internet is installed you can watch Arabic and sports channels without a satellite dish. NeonIPTV for residents in Turkey is paid in Turkish lira via IBAN, with a special price for residents.
Prices and deals in Turkey change often because of inflation, so this guide doesn't list prices. Check the current price on each provider's website before subscribing.
